Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Windhoek to Namib Desert
Your journey starts with a pick-up from Windhoek. From here, you travel south towards the Namib Desert. The drive takes you through changing landscapes, from central highlands to open desert plains.
On arrival at your lodge near Sossusvlei, you can relax and settle in. Enjoy a calm evening followed by dinner at the lodge.
Day 2: Sossusvlei, Dead Vlei and Sesriem Canyon
Start early before sunrise for a scenic drive through Sesriem Gate into Sossusvlei. The soft morning light gives the dunes a deep orange glow.
You can climb Dune 45 for wide views of the desert. After this, continue with a short 4×4 drive to Dead Vlei. This area is known for its white clay pan and ancient dead acacia trees standing against the dunes.
Later in the day:
- Visit Sesriem Canyon, shaped by years of water flow
- Stop at Elim Dune for sunset views
Return to the lodge after a full day in the desert.
Day 3: Namib Desert to Swakopmund via Walvis Bay
Today you travel through the Namib Naukluft region towards the coast. The route offers wide desert views with rocky formations and open plains.
Wildlife sightings on the way may include:
- Oryx
- Springbok
- Mountain zebra
- Ostrich
You also stop at the Tropic of Capricorn for photos.
Before reaching Swakopmund, visit Walvis Bay Lagoon. This area is known for flamingos and other coastal birdlife. After this, continue to Swakopmund and check in to your hotel.
Day 4: Swakopmund Leisure Day
Today is free for optional activities along the coast. You can choose from:
- Sandboarding or quad biking in the dunes
- Boat cruises at Walvis Bay
- Scenic flights over the Skeleton Coast
If you prefer a relaxed day, you can walk around Swakopmund town, visit cafes, or spend time by the ocean.
Day 5: Swakopmund to Damaraland via Cape Cross
You travel north along the coastal salt road to Cape Cross. Here you visit one of the largest Cape Fur Seal colonies in Africa.
After spending time at the colony, the journey continues inland into Damaraland. The landscape changes to rocky terrain with mountains and dry riverbeds.
On the way, you may see Ostriches, Jackals, Hyenas, Springbok
You also pass through Damara villages before reaching your lodge near the Brandberg Massif.
Day 6: Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings
Today is focused on exploring Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO-listed site known for ancient rock engravings. These carvings are believed to be thousands of years old and give insight into early human life in the region.
You spend time walking around the site with a guide and learning about the history and meaning of the engravings.
Return to your lodge later in the day and relax.
Day 7: Damaraland to Etosha National Park
After breakfast, you drive towards Etosha National Park. This is one of Africa’s most well-known wildlife reserves.
On arrival, you may already begin spotting wildlife near waterholes. Check in to your lodge or camp and prepare for the next days of safari.
Day 8: Full Day Game Drive in Etosha
Spend the day exploring Etosha National Park. The park is known for its large salt pan and waterholes that attract animals.
Common sightings include Elephants, Lions, Giraffes, Zebras, Antelopes
You move between different waterholes to increase your chances of sightings.
Day 9: Another Full Day Safari in Etosha
Another full day in the park gives you more chances to see wildlife. Each day is different depending on animal movement.
Early morning and late afternoon drives are usually the most active times. You continue exploring different parts of the park.
Day 10: Etosha to Windhoek
After breakfast, you leave Etosha and drive back to Windhoek.
On arrival, you have time for last-minute shopping or to relax before your onward journey. This marks the end of your Namibia safari.
