Expert Note: We’ve tracked 17 different lion prides across the Mara over the past two years. Morning drives between 6-9 AM give you the best chance to see them hunting. The Marsh Pride near Musiara Swamp is the most active we monitor.

Masai Mara Lion Safari – Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 : Nairobi - Masai Mara (First Lion Encounter)
Depart Nairobi after breakfast and drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley to the world-famous Masai Mara. Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, head out on your first lion-tracking game drive. Explore known pride territories and watch the big cats as they rest, play, or prepare for their evening hunt. Return to your camp for dinner and a peaceful evening surrounded by the sounds of the wild.
Day 2 : Full-Day Lion Tracking Safari
Start early with breakfast and set off for a full day in the Mara, dedicated to following lions and other big cats. Your guide will take you to prime areas like the Marsh, Topi Plains, or Paradise Pride territory, where lions are often seen hunting or caring for their cubs.
Enjoy your picnic lunch inside the park and continue your afternoon drive, capturing rare moments and stunning photos.
Return to camp as the sun sets for dinner and an evening around the campfire.
Day 3 : Another Day with the Lions
Today, continue your search for new prides or revisit lion territories to observe changing behavior. Spend time watching how lions interact with other predators like hyenas and leopards.
Optional experiences include a hot-air balloon safari at dawn for aerial lion sightings or a Maasai village visit to learn how local communities coexist with wildlife. Relax at your camp after a rewarding day of big cat adventures.
Day 4: Sunrise Safari - Return to Nairobi
Head out early for one last morning lion drive, when big cats are most active before the day warms up.
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi, arriving by late afternoon – your heart full of unforgettable memories of Africa’s most iconic predator.

- If cancellation requested before 30 to 44 days prior to departure – 25% of the tour cost will be refunded.
- If cancellation requested before 15 to 29 days prior to departure – 10% of the tour cost will be refunded.
